Kelly Darkes Bio
Kelly Darke is a registered art therapist, certified K-12 art teacher, professional artist, and mother of two. Darke regularly exhibits her art in galleries in Michigan including Live Coal Gallery and Detroit Artists Market. A schedule of upcoming shows can be found on her calendar of events. She is currently focusing on fiber art and consistently challenging herself through this chosen media.

As an art therapist, Darke has worked with adults and children with various developmental needs using art as therapy. She trained in three different school settings, working closely with her colleagues to create lessons that were developmentally appropriate and choice-based art education. She has developed an open studio art therapy program in a center that served children who had suffered emotional traumas. Darke has also developed several online workshops focused on self-care through the use of art and continues to facilitate these communities online. Since 2010, Darke has been working with adults that have suffered traumatic brain injuries helping them to improve their cognitive skills and emotional regulation. In 2013, Darke presented at the Expressive Therapies Summit on the use of technology in art therapy.
